Just north of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, sits the beautiful seaside town of Kittery, Maine. Kittery was officially incorporated in 1647, and is known as the “oldest incorporated town in Maine”. With such proximity to Portsmouth, Kittery became known for trade and shipbuilding. In fact, the first commissioned ships of the US Navy were constructed on Badger’s Island and used in the
American Revolution. The Portsmouth Naval Yard helped to continue Kittery’s maritime history, being the first federal naval yard. The town’s amazing history is still very present today, staying intact throughout its many years in existence.

Kittery is an area frequented by tourists for its many historical attractions, as well as shopping outlets. It is also known for its great restaurants and quant shops located on the waterfront.
